Bugatti Veyron Crash

Ok, so what happens when you put an idiot inexperienced driver in a $1.6 million super sports car? Nothing good, of course, just watch what happens to this driver trying to take out a Bugatti Veyron for a test drive. While backing up, he manages to crash into a Toyota waiting at a red light and then scraping the front end of the car while trying to drive back onto the sidewalk. Wondering what this little incident cost the driver? Only $30,000.

Check out the video after the jump.

2011 VW Passat

Launched in 1973, even though it never stood out, the Passat has always been one of the company’s most successful vehicles, with around 15 million units sold so far. And at this year’s Paris Motor Show, Volkswagen has unveiled their new Passat, which is scheduled to go on sale later this year. Though the German car maker calls this “the seventh generation Passat” and judging by its look we tend to believe them, the new model is actually something between a facelift and a new generation. Because while it features a completely new design and technologies, it is built on the same platform as the current Passat, which makes it a “major facelift”.

Ok, so let’s see what’s the new Passat all about. First of all, we have the exterior design, which is completely new, being the work of Walter da Silva and Klaus Bischoff and which follows VW’s current design philosophy seen on the new Golf, Touareg, Polo and Eos. To be honest, nothing spectacular, but I don’t think any of the previous generations were extremely good looking and that wasn’t a problem for the car to sell excellent. As for the interior, though there were some changes made, it’s almost identical to the current generation, another reason to consider the 2011 Passat only a facelift.

2011 VW Passat

Under the bonnet, the new Passat will come with an offer of 10 engines delivering between 105 hp (77 kW) and 300 hp (220 kW). From these engines, VW is extremely proud of the 1.6 TDI turbodiesel that delivers 105 hp and has a fuel consumption of 4.2 liters/100 km (55 US mpg), which means that the 70 liter fuel tank offers a driving range of 1,666 km (1,035 miles). Other engines which are already popular are the BlueTDI (140 hp and 4.2 liters/100 km) and the 1.4 TSI which delivers 122 hp and a fuel consumption of 5.9 liters/100 km (40 US mpg). Depending on the engines, six-speed manual, six-speed DSG and seven-speed DSG transmissions are available.

As for the technologies available for the new Passat, VW offers fatigue detection system, city emergency braking, ACC adaptive cruise control plus Front Assist, Easy Open function for the trunk (specific feet movement behind the car opens the boot lid) and Park Assist, which helps the driver find parking spaces and, if necessary, guide him to a do a prefect parking.

2011 VW Passat

The new VW Passat will be made at the Emden and Zwickau plants in Germany and the European market launch for both sedan and estate models is scheduled for the end of November 2010.
