| 2011 BMW M3 gets Competition package, start-stop system Posted: 13 Feb 2010 11:55 PM PST  Although its existence was leaked a few weeks ago, BMW finally took the chance to present the new Competition package for the 2011 M3 performance model, as well as a few other interesting changes made to the its popular model. First off, the new Competition package will be a welcomed addition to the features with which the M3 can be ordered by hardcore fans, as it will bring 19-inch wheels, a lowered suspension by 10mm, and a revised Sport traction control setting, which further augments the other changes. It will be available in Europe for the M3 coupe and sedan, and will also include a new carbon fiber front apron flaps and rear spoiler. The last two elements can be ordered for existing M3 through the accessories program.  With the 2011 model year, customers will also receive an automatic start-stop system, which, if you don’t know, turns off the engine while the car is at a stoplight, and immediately turns it on when the gas pedal is pressed. Coupled with either the manual six-speed or the M dual-clutch gearbox, the new system allows the 2011 BMW M3 to be up to 8% more efficient than the model it is replacing. | Citroen presents the DS High Rider concept, previews the future DS4 Posted: 13 Feb 2010 11:25 PM PST  Citroen decided to stop the teasing ahead of the Geneva Motor Show and unveiled the DS High Rider Concept model, which will be presented at the prestigious European convention. The slightly crossover-ish model aims at previewing the future DS4 premium car, which is set to make an appearance at the beginning of 2011, after the new C4 lineup is revealed. As you can see, the styling is heavily borrowed from the new DS3 premium hatchback, itself an evolution of the new C3, and will target a slightly upmarket segment with its new technologies. As you would expect, the production model will receive two extra doors, making it a hatchback, but might retain the elevated ride height and give the other upcoming models, like the Mini Countryman and the Nissan Juke, something to think about.  Last but not least, a hybrid version will appear at launch, according to Citroen, which will feature a diesel HDi engine, which will drive the front wheels, coupled with an electric motor that sends its power to the rear, effectively making it an four-wheel drive car. You will be able to enjoy the DS High Rider concept this March in Geneva, while a production version of the actual DS4 model might appear this fall in Paris, before it is launched on the market at the beginning of 2011.
